Sustainability A short description of "green" initiatives that are implemented by MORNOS SA are presented below Energy By focusing on reduction of our energy use and alternative sources of energy, we are striving to reduce our energy footprint.th the establishment of new environmental friendly lighting equipment we have managed to utilize 80% less power for our lighting needs. We are currently exploring the possibility of natural gas usage. Emissions Climate change is a relevant and important issue to our business. We acknowledge that we can be part of the solution through reduction of our emissions. this end, we have establish and operate the RTO system in the flexible packaging section in order to reduce VOCs emissions Short description of the RTO (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer) system: According to the Directive of EC no 1999/13/EC of 11/3/1999 the emission level of the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) , which are contained in the exhaust gas streams from the laminating, rotogravure and flexo printing machines must be max 100mgC / Nm^3 (for an annual solvent –i.e. ethyl alcohol and ethyl acetate- consumption above 30 tons). MORNOS SA, in compliance with the above, has been equipped with a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) plant (this installation has a capacity to treat 65.000 m^3/h of exhaust gases), in which via combustion the initially high content of VOC’s in the exhaust gases (max 4 g/Nm^3) is reduced to 20 mgC / Nm^3 Recycle Waste All our rigid waste is recyclable and Special Corporation is in place between MORNOS SA and certified waste handling companies Secondary Packaging MORNOS SA is a leading supplier of packaging, so we know the importance of packaging - protection of the products. Every product that we create requires packaging to get to our customers. With respect to the environment and the safety of the products we use cartons made of 70% recycled paper and we enforce the reuse of pallets. MORNOS SA is a member of the Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation and supports financially its activities (www.hercco.gr) Materials Our engineers and designers tirelessly research and collaborate to devise better products that lessen our environmental, social and economical impact. Whether it is through source reduction of existing products or the use of a new material, our development teams and operations work closely together to obtain workable solutions. We have active projects focused on use of recycled content and we explore the possibility of using biodegradable materials in flexible packaging. Our fit-for-purpose approach and diversity in technologies provides us with great leverage in our efforts.
